Waterco Datrys
We assess a wide range of data and environmental factors to determine the likelihood of future flooding and identify measures to reduce its impact.
Our reports include detailed modelling, mitigation strategies and compliance with national and local planning policies to ensure flood risk is properly managed.
We provide robust documentation that strengthens planning applications, helping clients demonstrate that flood risk has been considered and addressed effectively.
From critical infrastructure continuity plans to individual property guidance, we deliver practical solutions that safeguard assets and support long-term resilience.
Waterco Datrys
We translate complex hydraulic outputs into clear, visual representations of flood extents, depths, and velocities. These maps make risk communication accessible, highlight vulnerable areas, and support evidence-based decision-making.
We work alongside structural engineers, environmental consultants, and other specialists to ensure modelling outputs inform every aspect of water management, from technical feasibility to sustainability and regulatory compliance.
Using industry-standard platforms such as HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, and InfoWorks, our mapping outputs are tailored to meet regulatory requirements and integrate seamlessly into planning applications, permitting processes, and strategic flood risk management.
Beyond modelling, we apply data to design and implement practical systems, including drainage and water management for surface, foul, and stormwater, as well as reinforced structural designs that comply with building regulations.
Waterco Datrys
We deliver precise estimates of flood flow velocities and hazard ratings, providing the technical evidence needed to assess site safety and resilience.
Our analysis underpins emergency planning strategies, ensuring safe access and egress routes are identified and maintained during flood events.
Using advanced modelling techniques, we evaluate river systems and critical structures such as bridges, weirs, and culverts to understand local flood dynamics.
We refine Environment Agency flood maps with locally verified data, offering a more accurate and reliable picture of flood risk for your site.

A Flood Risk Assessment checks if a site is suitable for development by evaluating its risk of flooding. Requirements vary by region, but usually depend on the site’s location, size, and type of development. In England and Scotland, it’s called a Flood Risk Assessment; in Wales, it’s a Flood Consequence Assessment.
A Flood Risk Assessment is typically required when any of the following applies:
1. The site is over 1ha.
2. Can be classed as a major development.
3. Located in Flood Zone 2 or 3. 4. Drainage area is classed as critical.
Yes. We use industry-standard tools such as HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, and InfoWorks to simulate water flow, volume, and velocity, supporting effective flood mitigation strategies.
Yes. Our team manages the full process, preparing and submitting applications such as Environment Agency permits, SEPA CAR licences, and watercourse consents to ensure compliance and smooth project progression.
Developers, local authorities, businesses and even individual property owners may need an FRA if their site is in a flood zone, over 1 hectare, or classed as a major development.
