Last week the flood risk modelling team (T3) attended a training session held by Steve Conway on Fairourne Beach and the Mawddach Estuary.
The visit provided a unique chance to observe firsthand the interactions between waves, tides, and sediment, as well as the underlying geology that contributes to the region’s landscape and flood risk and will help expand our practical skills and knowledge for future projects on coastal sites.
The team carried out practical exercises to test the conductivity of the water in coastal, estuarine, and fluvial environments in Fairbourne using the EC tester to increase our understanding of its uses and what impacts the water quality. From erosion patterns, rock formations, sediment transport and vegetation types.
