Waterco and Fellow North Wales Water Industry Riders Take To The Roads
24th Jun 2019
Riders from Waterco and across the Water Industry in North Wales supported yesterday’s Dwr Cymru Welsh Water’s Annual Bikeathon.
The weather held out for most of the day, allowing the riders to explore some of Wales’ most scenic cycling routes in the dry. The rain did arrive for the post-ride BBQ, but riders were in good spirits and happy to eat a well-deserved warm meal following their efforts.
As well as raising funds for Wateraid, the event supported Ysgol Tir Morfa (Rhyl) with their “recycles project”. A scheme where the older students (16 to 19) are being trained as bicycle mechanics and are repairing and servicing donated bicycles for reuse.
The ride was split into three groups, all of which had varying lengths spanning from 10+ miles to 100+ miles. Family and friends of Waterco joined in on the Family Route which spanned over 10 miles. A special congratulations and pat on the back for Tim, who completed a gruelling 100+ mile ride.
Riders at Waterco can thank our Technical Director, Tim Mitchell for his passion and enthusiasm for all things cycling.
Tim, a Chartered Civil Engineer with more than 30 years design work experience in the water industry has been with Waterco for 6 years. Responsible for maintaining Waterco’s technical high standards, Tim also provides technical support and advice to design engineers throughout the company.
Tim has helped oversee continued growth of the team and the increased the scale and reach of the projects that our design services in the Water sector support.
This was the Annual Bikeathons 9th year, and the 6th consecutive year that riders from Waterco have taken part. Roll on the events 10 year anniversary in 2020!
Well done and thank you to all the riders who took part.
